REFUGEE CAMPS IN GREECE

OUR HOUSE PROJECT

OUR HOUSE PROJECT

"Our House" is a project started by Arash Hampay in Athens and his brother Amir Hampay in Lesbos to support homeless refugees regardless of their nationality. The project is carried out mainly by refugees wanting to take responsibility for helping people in different ways. Our House is a space where people come together mainly for food, a haircut, listen to music and collect essential survival items like blankets and hygiene kits.

Greece has been facing long-standing humanitarian crisis. The streets of Athens are harsher than many cities, impacted by Greece's own ongoing economic struggles. The direct implication is on refugees with no support mechanism.

In the absence of adequate support, some refugees have taken it upon themselves to find solutions. That includes Hampay, who, before coming to Athens, lived with his younger brother in the infamous Moria refugee camp on the island of Lesbos where our founder Patricia Bahamonde personally met the brothers in 2017.
